Joseph Paul Branca
Joseph Paul Branca is a professional actor based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most recently he starred in the world premiere production of Paul Michael Thomson's Fremont Jr. High is NOT Doing Oklahoma! as Chrysanthemum at Good Company Theatre, as well as the regional premiere productions of Pete the Cat as Jimmy Biddle, and Saturday's Voyeur as Elder DeLay Mortenson at Salt Lake Acting Company; in Winnie-the-Pooh as Tigger, Newsies as Crutchie, and in the world premiere production of The Velveteen Rabbit as The Narrator at Hale Center Theater Orem; in Guys and Dolls as Rusty Charlie, Mary Poppins as Robertson Ay, Matilda as a Big Kid, and A Christmas Carol as Eben, Dick Wilkins, and a member of the octet at Hale Centre Theatre; and as a performer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Japan. Other recent performances include Peter Pan as Michael Darling, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Benjamin, Annie as various characters and the cover for Rooster Hannigan, and A Christmas Carol as Topper at Hale Center Theater Orem; Diary of a Worm, a Spider, and a Fly as Ant at Salt Lake Acting Company; Man of La Mancha as José and the cover for The Padre at Utah Opera directed by Paul Curran; as a resident company member at Desert Star Playhouse; and as Polydorus in the touring Greek theatre production of Euripides Hecuba. Joseph also works regularly in film and television and starred in the Emmy Award Winning feature film Resistance Movement as Rudi Wobbe, and the true crime documentary Dog Valley as Gordon Church. Joseph received the BroadwayWorld Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Crutchie in Newsies, two Westminster Theatre Society Awards for Best Actor for his performances in Post-it's: Notes on a Marriage, and the one-man show I Am Not Batman, and two Utah Film Awards for his portrayal of Rudi Wobbe in Resistance Movement. Joseph studied acting at The University of Utah, and musical theatre and vocal performance at Westminster College.
