Abhishek Ray
Abhishek Ray has been composing music since high school. He entered the Bollywood industry with a bang by singing and composing a trilogy of successful albums with the legendary poet Gulzar namely Udaas Paani, Raat Chand Aur Main, Kab aate ho. At the same time he composed for Tigmanshu Dhulia's Haasil while still in college. Coming from a family steeped in Hindustani Classical Music, Abhishek learnt both Hindustani Classical vocals and mastered western classical music and the piano from tender age of four while residing at Calcutta. Later he shifted to Delhi and set up his own recording studio there composing, arranging and singing for scores of ad films,documentaries, television title tracks and channel broadcast music for all leading channels. After the phenomenal background score of Haasil, there was no looking back and Abhishek composed and belted out music for award winning ,critically acclaimed and box office hits like Paan Singh Tomar, I Am Kalam, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Premmayee, Chaar Din Ki Chandni, Yeh Saali Zindagi, Shagird, Haasil, Tera Kya Hoga Johnny etc. Simultaneously he composed and sang for super hit Tamil films like Thoondil, famous world music albums like Amazing India series, Raga Rendezvous,Ritu- the magic of the 6 Indian seasons, award winning documentaries like The Maharaja of Jodhpur ,Shiamans of the Himalayas, Shahjahanabad-the twilight years,The Apatanis of Arunachal, The Koniaks of Nagaland etc.
Abhishek is also a naturalist, birder and a government bonafide tiger and leopard tracker. He is an active member and contributor in various government census and other wildlife protection activities. He runs his own wildlife protection mission near Corbett National Park.
