Bud Cokes
Heavy-set character actor Bud Cokes appeared in scores of films form the late 1930s - 1970s encompassing a wide variety of roles. Though his movie career started in the 1930s, it was quickly interrupted by military service in the early 1940s. Upon his return, he resumed his career as an actor. Because of his military service and his serious look, Cokes was known as Sarge among his friends. By the 1950s, his work seemed to flourish with the coming of television and he found a niche being a stand-in for heavy set character actors and as a technical adviser for war time sequences in films and by the 1960s he transitioned into westerns like many of the character actors that he stood in for. By the late 1960s Cokes career started to slow down and he retired from film in the late 1960s finishing off a career that spanned from the golden era of movies through the age of television.
