Haylar Garcia
Writer/Director/Editor Haylar Garcia is a seasoned veteran to the entertainment business having literally grown up on the road. A vocalist/musician/songwriter and hailed lyricist, Haylar began his professional music career at the age of 17 while playing and touring with any one of his three band incarnations. After five albums and more than a decade of experience on stage, he took a behind the scenes position in music production while owning and operating a Denver area recording studio. After being credited as engineer/producer on a slew of CD album projects and demo recordings for nearly every music genre including: Pop, Rap, Rock, Country, Acoustic and Spoken Word, he turned his creative efforts toward screen writing. His writing career was jump- started in 2002 with a break to rewrite a script entitled "Risk" for Agnelli Bloom productions with executive producer Penny Marshall. After this accomplishment, Haylar decided it was time to do exactly what he'd originally intended when he'd begun writing. He decided to direct. Since then he has founded Tao Engine Philms, penned 7 full length features and written and directed multiple short films and music videos, honing his directorial and editorial skills for his most current project, a feature entitled "Narcophonic (The Ballad of Bad Bax)". Haylar's long and experienced past as well as his uncommon spark for expression and innovation has now placed him in the role of filmmaker. A place the rest of us think he has belonged for quite some time. Haylar has currently written, directed and edited the award winning feature documentary film "Do it for Johnny" A documentary about indies as they try to bestow their screenplay unto mega-star Johnny Depp. The doc has been accepted to and screened at 5 major American film festivals, and is currently pending international distribution.
