Larry Yang
In April 2014, director and screenwriter Larry Yang's Mountain Cry screenplay was awarded the "Best Commercial Potential" prize at the 4th Beijing International Film Festival's "Pitch & Catch" contest.
Yang represents the new generation of bi-cultural talent in Chinese film, having honed his craft by earning Master's degrees in Film from both the Beijing Film Academy and the University of Edinburgh.
Prior to Mountain Cry, Yang's most recent feature Sorry, I Love You tells the story of an adopted Chinese-Canadian young man and the challenges he faces when searching for his roots while having merely months left to live.
Adapted from a 2004 Korean drama, the film held its world premiere at the United Nations headquarters in New York in November 2013, and was also featured at the 4th New York Chinese Film Festival in January 2014.
His latest work Mountain Cry has premiered at the 20th Busan International Film Festival as closing film in 2015.
