Laura Adkin
Laura Adkin is a filmmaker born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She began her career in the film and television industry in the early 2000s, starting as an actor and then moving behind the camera a decade later as a producer, writer and most recently as a director.
After writing and producing a number of short form projects, her directorial debut The Goodnight Kiss received the prestigious Bravofact grant and went on to play festivals around the world and earn many awards and accolades including Best Short Film at the Edmonton International Film Festival and 8 Leo Awards nominations.
Some of Laura's accolades include being handpicked for a female directors initiative through Disney, being chosen to pitch for the MPPIA short film award, having screenplays and short film's in competition finalist multiple times at the Austin Film Festival, being chosen for Telus Storyhive's Career Accelerator and WIDC's Career Advancement Module. Her feature film debut Re: Uniting was developed through Women in the Directors Chair having gone through their Story & Leadership program.
When not writing, directing, producing (or acting) Laura is actively involved in the film community and a huge Vancouver Canucks fan.
