Maarten Swaan
Maarten Swaan is an actor, aspiring director/ writer and musician, born May 9th, 1980 in Middelburg, The Netherlands. He is a graduated physical therapist, but switched in 2005 to an artistic career of a musician. In Guatemala he started the band Melou and for the next 5 years he would be touring. In 2010 he moved to Barcelona, where he got into commercial acting, which would support his life as a musician. In 2013 he got his first role in the short movie "People like us" by Ramon Ayala. The interest for acting grew and he attended acting courses with casting director Luci Lenox and actor coach Mel Churcher, which got him a step up. Next he knew he was shooting for Mateo Gil's movie "Project Lazarus" and "Inside" directed by Miguel Angel Vivas. Next he joined the Conservatory of Meisner from Javier Galito-Cava, which he graduated from in May 2017. Swaan's first lead role was in the web series "This New World" by director Marco Bazzi (IT) for which he received the Best-Actor award at the Sicily Web Festival. In February 2018 Swaan wrote the script for the short film "En ik van jou" (Won't forget you), starring dutch A listers Frits Lambrechts and Nelly Frijda. "En ik van jou" is Swaan's directorial debut, for which he received several International Festival awards.. Back in LA he shot his first Hollywood production, the TV show "Dollface" with Kat Dennings. In spring 2021 the short "Anxiety" will be released, Swaan's latest directional work.
