Madeline Ivalu
Madeline Ivalu is a filmmaker, executive producer, director, writer, actress, cultural advisor and musician based in Iglulik (Igloolik), Nunavut. she co-founded Arnait Video Productions in 1991. It is a filmmaking and video collective composed of Inuit and non-Inuit women, and remains an active part of the collective today. Madeline presented Arnait videos at Qaigit in 1996 during her tour for Ottawa, Ontario and in Montreal, Quebec as well as Ottawa in 1997. She was part of the Pan Arctic Women Artists Workshop and is president of Naluat in Igloolik, a women's sewing collective. Madeline has also been an integral member of Isuma Distribution International Inc.'s film and video productions. Ivalu has co-directed several award-winning films with long-time collaborator Marie-Hélène Cousineau, such as "Before Tomorrow/Le jour avant le lendemain" (2008) and "Uvanga" (2013). Her latest film, "Restless River" will be released in fall 2019 and is co-directed with Cousineau.
