Madwiz
Cameron 'MADWIZ' Pierre is an emcee & actor hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Born and raised in the Clinton Hill section, he was exposed to hip-hop and movie culture from the beginning, due to Spike Lee's 40 Acres and a Mule Production headquarters being located up the block. Many of these films were shot in and around his neighborhood.
As a rapper, with a strong discography and a refreshing and distinctive style, the Brooklyn native is THE one to look out for. MADWIZ is a studied hip hop aficionado and connoisseur, citing rap acts such as Nas, Scarface, Redman, MC Lyte, UGK, and The Ultramagnetic MC's to leaders of other genres, such as Prince, Lee "Scratch" Perry and The Ohio Players, among various others as has biggest influences. Recognized worldwide as one of the most prominent young MC's, his music is described as, "the forerunner of Brooklyn's burgeoning underground sound".
The same year he graced the stage at Austin's SXSW festival, opening up for then-new hip hop heavyweight Kendrick Lamar with Radamiz, they were the first act at 2013's Hot 97 Summer Jam Festival Stage and opened for acts such as Pro Era, Action Bronson, and ASAP Ferg. On the NYC music scene he frequents venues like SOBs, Knitting Factory & Webster Hall, where he's performed shows with Dot Da Genius and Boogie. With an extensive discography starting with two mixtapes in 2010 & '11 respectively, he came back after a string of videos with the EP Belly Of The Snake in 2015.
Today, Cam is pushing his album, '718-MAD-WIZ', which dropped late 2018. He stars alongside rapper and best friend Radamiz in Inner City Rats, directed by Sam Garcia Southern. He was nominated for a Best Actor award at the Hoboken film festival for his standout role as Pippin. As MADWIZ, he also provides music for the score of the film.
