Myoungwoo Lee
Lee Myoung Woo is South Korea's most sought-after showrunner-writer-producer best known for his works on Punch, The Fiery Priest, and Backstreet Rookie. With over two decades of experience, Lee produces award-winning stories that prove successful with audiences time and time again.
With a track record of commercially and critically acclaimed productions, Lee boasts a vast network of A-list talent and is considered one of the few 'star directors' in Korean entertainment today. In 2019, Lee directed the SBS TV series The Fiery Priest, which marked the highest record of viewership ratings out of all publicly broadcast Korean dramas that year. The series also won numerous awards including the Grand Prize at the 2019 SBS Drama Awards and the Excellent Korean Drama Award at the 2019 Seoul Drama Awards.
Lee's upcoming TV series, One Ordinary Day, based on the highly acclaimed BBC Studios' crime series Criminal Justice, is set to be released in November 2021. This is the first Korean drama produced by Coupang Play, the SVOD service by Coupang (Korea's Amazon equivalent). The show stars A-list actors Cha Seung-won and Kim Soo-hyun. Lee's production banner launched in January 2021, The Studio M, will be co-producing the series.
Lee graduated from Syracuse University and speaks fluent English.
