Ryan Wichert
Ryan is a British / German stage and screen actor who trained at the Drama Centre London. He speaks both languages fluently and is known for the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit (2020), dir. by Scott Frank, the Netflix series How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (2019), the feature film Spencer (2021) starring Kristen Stewart and the coming-of-age feature Abschussfahrt (2015) (Constantin Films) where he played the British thug 'Bret'.
He has worked extensively in German TV series and cinema and can regularly be seen in guest and episode leads in TV productions such as the ZDF shows Notruf Hafenkante (2007) and Blutige Anfänger (2020). He was part of the original cast of the German TV Sketch Comedy Die unwahrscheinlichen Ereignisse im Leben von ... (2014) (WDR Germany / btf GmbH), which received a Grimme Award nomination, one of the most prestigious awards in German Television.
Ryan's career started off typically British: performing Shakespeare. He played The Fool in 'King Lear' in London. Between Shakespeare, Ibsen, Brecht, and Chekhov, he has also worked on modern political dramas and satires, appearing in numerous productions at the award-winning Arcola Theatre London. In 2018 he joined the ensemble of the smash-hit stage sitcom "Gutes Wedding, Schlechtes Wedding" in Berlin and in 2021 he was invited to take over direction of the comedy show.
Ryan's work has been underpinned by his love of the stage, which he continues to return to.
As a writer Ryan has co-created award-winning online series and various short films, such as the 10 second comedy The Blow Job (2014), and the satire "The Water Sommelier" which he co-wrote, co-directed and stars in.
