Derek Wade best known as Hype South is a Producer, Director, Writer and former Podcaster based in Houston, TX. Starting his entertainment career in the music industry at 15 years old, he began touring Texas selling music at 17. He later on assisted on music video sets in 2011 and made his Director debut with the underground feature film Faces (2018) which he wrote, produced and edited that featured several Houston artists in the cast as well as soundtrack. He then parlayed that into directing larger music videos. In 2018 he produced a series of live on stage shows incorporating comedy, acting and music called Chowtime Drink & Laugh Comedy Tour which served as a platform for rising comics, poets and celebrating successful musicians in the city of Houston. In 2017 he launched a YouTube platform serving Houston entertainment called ChowtimeTV that amassed millions of views to date. In 2019 he started the Throwed In The Game Podcast that ranked as the #1 Hip Hop podcast in Houston for a period of time. In 2023 he began preproduction for his second feature film White Blues.
