Lara Dale
Lara Dale was trained from early childhood in classical music and ballet. She fell in love with choreography and began creating works for ballet and modern dance before moving to NYC to pursue a career as a choreographer. A serious dance injury completely changed her life and sent her on a very different path. She lucked into a rent-controlled apartment in Alphabet City and was privileged to work as Assistant to the late Howard Guttenplan, Director of Millennium Film Workshop in the East Village, back in the days of Super 8 and 16MM. She got to see early screenings of Todd Haynes, Susan Seidelman, Spike Lee, Tom DiCillo and Jim Jarmusch, among others, and was tremendously inspired by their hard work, innovation, and independent success. Her immersion from a young age in the precise timing of classical music and the rigorous physical movements of ballet and modern dance created the perfect background for mastering the art of Foley, which she learned from Emmy Award winning Foley Artist Ellen Heuer. Her early experience at Millennium also gave her a soft spot for independent filmmakers, and she continues to make promising low budget projects a priority whenever possible.

Lara is an award-winning actress after taking home the Best New Talent award at the OzFlix International film awards. Winning the award for her role as Fiona Day, the lead role in the independent mumblecore feature film, 'Friends, Foes and Fireworks', produced by Nexus Production Group. She was born in Melbourne and spent most of her childhood in Darwin, Australia. After living her teen years in country Victoria, she eventually moved to Melbourne to pursue classical ballet. An injury stopped this career path but it didn't stop her passion for story telling and falling in love with acting. Recognised for her exceptional skills in character acting, Lara also has proven experience in dramatic and comedy roles with particular focus on empathetic, archetypal and mysterious characters. Lara has studied acting extensively as well as spending two years in Vancouver, Canada where she appeared in Untold Stories of the ER (airing worldwide on the TLC channel) and a commercial for Yahoo (USA). In Australia Lara has appeared in a number of commercials, live broadcasts and lead roles in numerous short films and feature films. Lara trained under Jeb Beach and Andrew McIlroy and Associates in Vancouver focusing on camera for both film and television. She has also studied extensively at Melbourne's most reputable theatre training school, Peter Sardi's School of Acting, graduated from the one-year acting course at NIDA and attended private American Dialect tuition with Anna McCrossin-Owen. Lara is a former professional classical ballerina with over 18 years of training and experience in dance styles of ballet, contemporary and jazz. Lara is represented by Gael McDonald at Williams Management.

Lara was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, on April 16, 1978. Her dad is retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. Lara has two sisters, one of whom serves in the Indian Air Force, and is the cousin of Nitin Sawhney. In 1981 the Dutta family re-located to Bangalore, and she was enrolled in St. Francis Xavier Girls' High School where she studied till her 10th Standard, and later did her First Year and Second Year Junior College at the Frank Anthony Public School. After graduating from school, she then went on to earn a degree in Economics from Bombay University. She is fluent in both Hindi and English. In 1997 Lara enrolled and subsequently won the Miss Gladrags competition, leading her to represent India at the Miss Intercontinental, and thereafter being crowned Miss Universe in 2000 in Cyprus, making her the second Indian to win this prestigious award. After completing her Miss Universe commitments, she received several offers from Bollywood movie makers, and starred in Andaaz in 2003, which won her considerable recognition, and she subsequently won the best female debut award from Femina. Thereafter, most of her movies failed to make a mark at the box office, however, she did become popular and a household name. Some of the movies she is remembered for are 'Masti', 'No Entry, 'Kaal', 'Partner', Hey Baby' amongst others. She is also known for her sense of humor, and a talent for writing. She has now announced that she will writing scripts, and hopes that one day someone from Bollywood will make flicks out of them.
